Yes, this is a sad state of affairs.However, if those churches are currently more like what they are calling themselves now, and less like a church, perhaps it is not a misnomer.I've heard that a number of churches in the U.S. had become more like social clubs, so, even though sadly, are Anglican churches changing too?Is the new name to reflect what they have changed to, or to prevent what some imagine may be an offensive term, "church"?I hope that it is not the latter.Over the past 50 years in the U.S., a number of Baptist churches changed, or dropped, the word Baptist, from the church's name.Again, I do not know why, but I probably shouldn't assume to know what is in their hearts, for their reason for doing that.I too often am tempted to assume to know someone's motives, like when I'm driving, I'm tempted to judge the motives of other drivers.It's a wicked sin, and I often need to repent and turn back to Jesus.
