"September New Moon Sets Up A ‘Supermoon Eclipse’ And A ‘Ring Of Fire’"

Hello John and Doves,

"The new moon in September 2024 comes at 9:55 p.m. EDT on Monday September 2, but it's what it sets in motion that makes it special - a lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse.

"While the coming full moon, the "Harvest Moon" on September 17, will drift into the edge of Earth's shadow in space to cause a partial lunar eclipse.."  This will also be a supermoon.  It will be best viewed from North and South America, Europe and Africa.

".. the following new moon on October 2 will obscure the center of the sun's disk in a spectacular annular solar eclipse."

This eclipse is known as a "ring of fire".  It will only be visible from Easter Island and southern Chile.  On October 2, the moon will be at its farthest from the Earth

"The Sun, Earth and Moon align to put on a great show on the night of September 17 to 18.  Several celestial events coincide to give us a very special Full Moon:  A Super Harvest Moon Eclipse.

1)  It's a Full Moon.

2)  It's the Harvest Moon. The full moon "closest to the autumnal (fall) equinox in the Northern Hemisphere - September 22 at 12:43 UTC."

3)  It's a Supermoon.  "The Harvest Moon is near its closest approach to Earth."

4)  ti's a Partial Eclipse:  One part of the Moon's edge will be "shrouded in darkness".

5)  Look Up for Saturn, Jupiter and Mars:  Saturn will be the first to rise about the same time as the Moon.  Jupiter and Mars will arise later in the night to follow the Moon and Saturn "across the sky from east to west."

September 17 is 14 Elul.  In Jerusalem, the full moon will be September 18, 5:34 am

The October 2nd new moon (called a micromoon)  will herald the start of the month of Tishrei - the month that contains the Last Day's Feasts -  the last three Feasts of the Lord - Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkot.

Maranatha!
