(Have I forgotten that the blessed hope is actually coming for us?Or have I simply stopped looking for it?Where is the eager anticipation for his appearing, that I had years ago?Or have I gone from loving his appearing, to merely loving my disappearing?Otherwise, wouldn't I be purifying myself even as he is pure?I continually need to remind myself of the following:)
Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
I John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
II Timothy 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Revelation 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Mark 13:33 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
Mark 14:38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
Romans 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
I Corinthians 1:7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Galatians 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
I Thessalonians 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
II Thessalonians 3:5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
Luke 8:40 And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.
Revelation 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
I John 2:28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
I John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
(I once heard a preacher ask what it would be like for a Christian who decided to sin again.And just as he fills his lungs with smoke from a joint, the trumpet blows.Or just as he clicks to open an image that he shouldn't, the trumpet blows.Or just as he spews out something hateful from his mouth, the trumpet blows.However, ready or not, he's coming!)
