There is a woman who questioned me that Catholicism won't play a significant role in tribulation, because it will be blended in with other religions Islam, Buddhism, and becomes one world religion. Let's see what God says.

Isaiah 47:5 Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.

6 I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.

As we can see, God gives His inheritance ( the land of Israel, especially Jerusalem) and His people  ( The Jews) into the hand of the lady of kingdoms, whom she shall lay a very heavy yoke against. RCC is the lady of kingdoms. RCC shall persecute the Jews, and occupies their land especially Jerusalem during the times of Jacob's trouble.

Concerning why will RCC persecute the Jews, most of us already know the answer by studying history. Based on God's word, Catholicism shall play a vital role in extinguishing the Jews in tribulation, which includes the persecution of the Jews and taking over their land. RCC will not be blended in with other religions, rather, they will absorb all other religions under their banner, so that the title "lady of kingdoms" is preserved when they persecute the Jews, and occupies God's land.

If RCC blends in with other religions, before she persecutes the Jews, God would not use the title of lady of kingdoms. The title "lady of kingdoms" is reserved alone for RCC during their persecution against the Jews.. Having said this, Catholicism shall continue until the day Jesus returns to earth. She is also the woman riding the beast in Revelation 17.
