Hi Gino...and all Doves,
An interesting question, Gino. I know that the Jewish services on Yom Kippur focus on the scapegoat as well as Jonah. The scapegoat obviously relates to our LORD Jesus. The Jonah story......? I can only guess that it shows there is no escaping. No running away...no hiding. No subterfuge is ever going to hide us from the will of God. Even if we jump into the sea .... or we could flick ourselves off a cliff... set our bodily selves on fire.. cut our wrists and then fling ourselves off the Empire State building. NOTHING will hide us from the will of Almighty God.
So, I reckon that your question of, "which way did he go?" is pretty apt. It doesn't really matter which way he went. Almighty God was always going to find him. Which, I believe, is the whole point of the story.
