Dave, right on brother.  What value "scholarship" without the HOLY SPIRIT?
None !  Makes the pontificator feel good though, but without the SANCTIFICATION
of the HOLY SPIRIT, his "authority" is one's own Pride. Say "it" often and for long
enough and pretty soon anything becomes "truth".  Goebels proved that. Personally I don't ascribe to any "pulpit" format in Scriptural Study but rather a circle of "indwelts",
with all of them ( any number) gathered round about, each giving Testimony of their own
Spiritual journey replete with Triumphs and Troubles seeking comment from all the
HOLY SPIRIT brothers there.  As to the folks that would be SEEKING the HOLY
SPIRIT to be in a circular audience to the central group listening. Questions about
the discussion are answered by a consensus of the inner circle. I have NEVER seen
this arrangement in any Church or even heard of one, but it is one that I dream about and I haven't been admonished by the HS for doing so. I know this flies in the
face of "tradition" but I couldn't care less what the egotists say, they will have to
answer for their attitude and behavior to the ONE they purpose to "know". We will
all see what value their pride of Biblical Knowledge gains them on THAT DAY. Sad,
sad, will I be, no feeling of triumph there!  Just sadness.  Remember satan knows
the Bible inside and out and actually "knows" JESUS but certainly DOESN'T LOVE
HIM. LOL  We love HIM though, don't we. In fact we LOVE HIM more than anything
else in the World, even more than our own lives, because what is life, really, without
HIM?  Dead !  That's what, dead!  HE and HE ALONE is LIFE!  Those of us who are
"older" can testify to the brevity of our lives, a mere blink of an eye. Why chose to
walk though this brief existence alone without the HOLY SPIRIT as our GUIDE and
TEACHER and BEST FRIEND when that is what HE WANTS US TO DO? Why would
any right thinking person rely on their "own" knowledge and not avail themselves of
HIS ?  EGO ! (Pride)  To what end? So you can "look big" to others? How foolish is
that? What a price to pay for the favor of man!  Again I say SAD !  Yep, the HOLY SPIRIT
is the ONLY authority!  Let's look to HIM in ALL THINGS and not to our own understanding
of HIS WORD.  I leave you with these questions: Why are there so many different BIBLES ?
Why are there so many different denominations, all espousing to be the "correct" one?
There is but ONE HOLY SPIRIT.....let HIM LEAD....we FOLLOW HIM and HIM ALONE !
