"Faith and Wisdom--revised repost"

Hello, John and Doves,

Here are some of my favorite verses on faith and wisdom,
particularly Hebrews 11:3 and Proverbs 9:10.

Faith and Wisdom

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you.  He will not rebuke you for asking.  But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.  Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.  Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.  Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.”

                        James 1:5-8

"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  Hebrews 11:1

“By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.”  Hebrews 11:3

And it is impossible to please God without faith.  Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely [diligently] seek Him.”  Hebrews 11:6

 By wisdom the LORD founded the Earth;

by understanding He created the heavens.

“By His knowledge the deep fountains of the Earth burst forth.”  Proverbs 3:19

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”  Colossians 3:16

“The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of knowledge, [But] fools despise wisdom and instruction.”  Proverbs 1:7

“For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth [come] knowledge and understanding….”  Proverbs 2:6

"The fear of the LORD [is] the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One [is] understanding.”

                        Proverbs 9:10

“The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.”  Isaiah 11:2

Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.  It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven.  And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom.  So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Greeks say it’s all nonsense.

But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.  This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.”  1 Corinthians 1:21-25

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known [it], they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”  1 Corinthians 2:7-10
