Randy,
Your taste is connected to your nose as well as your tongue.  Do you use nose sprays?  Nose sprays are addictive in that your sinuses become dependent upon them if you use them over an extended period of time.  Do you live in a large city with much pollution, do you work around chemicals.  Any of those could affect your sense of smell and taste.
