"RE: Mike P: 11.19.23: the day of Christ not at hand"

Mike,
In the article that you linked, it said:
"If the Day of Christ is the rapture, then why are they troubled?"

II Thessalonians 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

I never, ever, saw that before.
They were not troubled that the day of Christ had passed, but rather that it was at hand.
I was always taught that they were so shaken because they thought that the day of Christ had come and gone, and they were left behind.
But Paul is saying, "at hand".
At hand, doesn't mean passed already.

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matthew 26:18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

John 2:13 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

II Timothy 4:6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

Clearly, Paul's departure had not already passed when he wrote this, but it was at hand.

Thank you for linking to that.
