It was an amazing use of sarcasm, that articulated the extremes of lying, and the effects of lying, by experts, and those who are in charge.

How do those experts & leaders react when they read these things about themselves?

Had it been straightforward facts & figures, Mr Oliver may well have found himself in some very hot water.

But his use of sarcasm, which really made his points easier to grasp, may actually be what prevents a full retaliation.

In a similar way, writers of the past, like Jonathan Swift, used satire to clearly make their points.
