"falling away"

except there come a falling away first:

II Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

That kind of fall, falling, falling away, is it similar to the following uses?

Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

I Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Hebrews 4:11b  lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Hebrews 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Hosea 14:1 O Israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

Psalms 5:10b  let them fall by their own counsels;

Proverbs 11:14a Where no counsel is, the people fall:

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Genesis 45:24 So he sent his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, See that ye fall not out by the way.

Or similar to what Donna Danna was referring to last week:

Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Then there is a more encouraging view, related to falling:

Daniel 11:34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.
  35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.

Jude 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

Then there is the fall of Babylon:

Isaiah 21:9 And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

Revelation 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Revelation 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

However, I do not think the falling away first is talking about the blessed hope,
as some podcasts are suggesting, that the Christians "fall up", from the earth.
No, I think that sounds more like Upsidaisium from Mt Flatten, on Rock & Bullwinkle,
where Mr Big, who was actually tiny, wouldn't let go of a piece of Upsidaisium,
and "fell upwards", to disappear into the sky.
