"RE: Garry B: 11.14.21: anoint"

Garry,
That was a very good description of anoint, leading up, " to anoint the most Holy", in Daniel 9:24.
Is there possibly any foreshadowing of the anointing of Jesus, by the anointing of David?
David was anointed three times.
The first time, when it was said about the Spirit of the LORD upon him:

I Samuel 16:13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

The second time was Judah anointed him king over Judah:

II Samuel 2:4 And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, That the men of Jabeshgilead were they that buried Saul.

The third time was when all Israel finally realized that David is their rightful king, an all Israel anointed him:

II Samuel 5:3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.

Jesus, as possibly prefigured by David, was anointed when he said about the Spirit of the Lord upon him:

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Then similar to David, there was an anointing at a very significant point:

Mark 14:8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

But then Israel, like they did with David, will finally realize that Jesus is their rightful king, and all Israel will anoint him:

Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Does this make any sense?
