I don't claim to know the exact why's and wherefores of this conflict but I do know something big is brewing. Russia forced a "peace treaty" on Armenia which has the ordinary people of that nation protesting loudly and angrily. Demanding the resignation of the PM (who signed the "peace treaty"). Azerbaijan has now regained the territory they wanted - which provides a land tunnel from the Caspian Sea (rich pickings) right through to Europe.

Now, Russian is sending tanks and attack helicopters (plus "peace keepers") to the region. Obviously this recent "peace treaty" is a misnomer. Turkey is a major player in this region. Onside with Azerbaijan and against Armenia. Iran is extremely nervous about all this but has kept rather quiet. The fact that the Russia military are being sent there - under the guise of a peace keeping force - should ring alarm bells. They wouldn't send in fire power and troops simply to quell a small Armenian protest. The Russians are getting ready for something bigger, in my opinion. It appears that Russia and Turkey are on the same page, at this moment in time.
