Stop! God Wants More Than a Minute
By A. W. Tozer
. . .I count all things but loss for the excellency of the
knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. . . . Philippians 3:8
A thousand distractions would woo us away from
thoughts of God, but if we are wise we will sternly put
them from us and make room for the King - and take
time to entertain Him!
Progress in the Christian life is exactly equal to the
growing knowledge we gain of the Triune God in
personal experience. And such experience requires a
whole life devoted to it and plenty of time spent at the
holy task of cultivating God.
God can be known satisfactorily only as we devote
time to Him.
Without meaning to do it we have written our serious
fault into our book titles and gospel songs.
"A little talk with Jesus," we sing and we call our books
"God's Minute," or something else as revealing.
The Christian who is satisfied to give God His
"minute" and to have "a little talk with Jesus" is the same
one who shows up at the evangelistic service weeping
over his retarded spiritual growth and begging the
evangelist to show him the way out of his difficulty!
Some things may be neglected with but little loss to
the spiritual life, but to neglect communion with God is
to hurt ourselves where we cannot afford it.
God will respond to our efforts to know Him. The
Bible tells us how; it is altogether a matter of how much
determination we bring to the holy task!
Yours in Christ,
Paul N. F.

Here is an excellent way to give Our Lord more time. We have a lot of time that we waste waiting at the stop sign, in line at the grocery
store, etc. Give your time to HIM. We cannot give too much time to Our Beloved.
The Practice of the Presence of GodHere, at www.PracticeGodsPresence.com, we have all we need to practice God's presence in the tradition of Brother Lawrence including: Brother Lawrence's "The Practice of the Presence of God", "The Gospels: New Testament Books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John", and "Reflections on Practicing God's Presence" - a series of little books. All may be printed.
"There is not in the world a kind of life more sweet and delightful, than that of a continual conversation with God. Those only can comprehend it who practice and experience it." ... Brother Lawrence
Below are a few words from our brother Light Heart . . .
All God's Children ... Welcome Home
To practice the presence of God in the Brother Lawrence tradition we walk before God simply, in faith, with humility, and with love. We engage in a continual, silent, and affectionate conversation with Our Father. Out of love for Him, we strive to do nothing and think nothing which may displease God.
