Lloyd’s of London, the world’s largest insurance company, has warned that the world may not be able to afford another year like 2011, when natural disasters such as the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and the floods in Thailand caused $4.6 trillion dollars of damage.
China shares the largest of the global insurance shortfall. The country insured just 1.4 percent of losses from natural disasters between 2004 and 2011.
It's not just China who is underinsured-

The Natural Hazard Risk Atlas 2011 found that China, India, the Phillipines, and Indonesia were in the “high risk” category of uninsured losses.

China to be 'mother of all distressed opportunities'
The slowdown in China's economy directly affects the ability of the Chinese Government to extend credit to agribusiness and to natural resource firms.
China's shadow banking blowup is happening just like I warned.
And while the author of the above mentioned article says it's an opportune time for distressed investors, it will not be appealing at all with a North Korea instigation or a closure of the Malacca Strait.

Philippines evacuates Thousands as Super Typhoon Haiyan hits
The nation’s highest storm alert level 4 has been reached for the provinces that are in the storm’s path.
The strength of Haiyan is equal to an extremely powerful Category 5 hurricane, meteorologists said.
The Philippine central islands are trying to recover from a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit the country last month.
Typhoon Bopha, that hit last year, cost $1.04 billion dollars.
Investors will rapidly pull their money out when North Korea antics prove too much and when the Malacca Strait closes.
Southeast Asia’s currencies and stock markets are going to look very vulnerable.
It's not Humpty Dumpty up there on that wall, it's B.R.I.C.
