"RE: Arlene: 11.19.12: FiveDoves: why Jesus was a Nazarite"

Jesus could not have been a Nazarite, because he would have repeatedly broken the voow, as shown below, and breaking the vow required the Nazarite brining a sin offering, but Jesus never sinned:

Numbers 6:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite, to separate themselves unto the LORD:
3 He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.

A Nazarite was not to drink of the fruit of the vine, yet Jesus did:

Mark 14:25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

"I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine", means that he had been drinking of the fruit of the vine before that time.

Numbers 6:6 All the days that he separateth himself unto the LORD he shall come at no dead body.

A Nazarite was to come at no dead body, but Jesus did do this, as in the following example:

Luke 7:13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.
14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

When Jesus met up with the widow of Nain, he clearly came at the dead body of her son.

Numbers 6:13 And this is the law of the Nazarite, when the days of his separation are fulfilled: he shall be brought unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:
14 And he shall offer his offering unto the LORD, one he lamb of the first year without blemish for a burnt offering, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish for a sin offering, and one ram without blemish for peace offerings,

A Nazarite required a sim offering. Jesus never sinned, he never required a sin offering. Rather, Jesus is our sin offering.

Jesus could not have been a Nazarite, because he would have been continually breaking his vow, and would have required a sin offering. Jesus did not break vows, nor did he sin.

Jesus was not a Nazarite. Over the years, many have thought that he had been, and that is why they always portray him with the long hair.
However, Jesus could not have been a Nazarite, but he was a Nazarene, as he grew up in Nazareth.
