"Update to: My understanding of Daniel 9:24-27"

Hi all,

After reading my email "My understanding of Daniel 9:24-27" I realized that I did not get my thought across completely.

1. I wanted to point out that verse 24 shows that this passage is referring to both the first and second coming.

2. verse 25 shows 2 different time periods, 7 and 62 weeks.

3. verse 26 says after 62 weeks the Messiah will be cut off, and we know that it was 69 weeks.  So the 7 weeks seem to be implied or assumed with the mention of "after 62 weeks".  Now we have right after this it talks about the destruction of the city and the sanctuary and explains how it is done.  It seems to me that we could then refer back to verse 25 where it talks about the going forth of the command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem and then apply the seven weeks (which maybe implied or assumed as well) to the next command to rebuild which was in 1967.

4. verse 26 "And the people of the prince who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.  The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined."  Here in this article http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_1948to1967_holysites.php seems a pretty clear description of what has happened from 1948 to 1967 and goes right with what was written in Daniel 9:26.

5. Verse 27 Then he (the prince of the people that destroyed Jerusalem) shall confirm a covenant with many for one week (7 years).  This will be the 70th week with no brake in time from the end of the 7 weeks and the beginning of the 1 week.

This just seems to fit and I am still hoping for His soon return.
Thanks for reading!
