"HUMANE SOCIETY POST"

As a former long-time volunteer (dog walker/runner) at the Humane Society, I was very saddened to see that post.  We volunteers were not paid, but we were fully aware of the ongoing financial struggles of that organization.  Just google your area's Humane Society and look at their balance sheets, compare their expenses with their revenues.  Might be an eye opener (in a good way) and it's all open to the public.  The Society is involved in feeding, housing, medical exams/treatments, animal rescue, prevention of animal cruelty, pet training/socialization, pet loss support groups, spaying/neutering, as well as outreach to the community by bringing dogs to hospitals, nursing homes, or schools.

NOTE:  A number of years ago when out driving one morning, I noticed two dogs caught within a 4-leaf clover on the freeway.  As I made the loop, I wondered how in the heck did they get there.  So I headed back to the clover, parked on the side, opened the back door of my car, and called to them.  Surprisingly, they both bounded over and leapt into the back seat of my car.  One was a Malemute with one blue eye/the other brown...don't remember what the other dog was...but both were big dogs, beautiful animals.  The point of mentioning this is where would I have taken those dogs if not the Humane Society.  Also when a beloved pet is missing, the Humane Society is the first place people call.

MORAL OF THE STORY:  Do your research...yes, there probably are a few bad apples but overall, this is truly an outstanding organization!
