WHAT is the Pope doing There?

Interesting article about the disintegration of the European Union. Actually, I'm playing fast and loose with the word "interesting" but what struck me are the photographs. Why on earth is the Pope taking centre stage re the political landscape in Europe? These deluded political elites really do believe that the Pope is a worthy token of Christianity (in his flowing robes - *snort*) and that Christians will rush to the cause of Europe. The mind doth boggle.
