Amid high security, Obama toured the church with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. They stopped at the Grotto of the Nativity, which is said to stand where Jesus Christ was born. About 20 children waving U.S. and Palestinian flags greeted Obama in a courtyard outside the sanctuary. He posed for photographs with Abbas and Bethlehem's mayor, Vera Baboun.

Matthew 21: But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant, and they said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read,

“‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies
    you have prepared praise’?”

Just as Jesus had young children waving palm branches to Him and worshiping Him, so Obama has children waving flags.

Apart from the leaders, ministers and other dignitaries and uniformed officials, 30 children took part in the presidential welcoming ceremony that took place Wednesday at the President's Residence. They waved flags, sung, danced and some even shook the president's hand and exchanged words with Barack Obama. "He told me 'thank you beautiful girl'", Neta Kedmi recalled. "He was really sweet. Peres as well." 

Obama and Peres strode down the red carpet leading to the President's Residence in Jerusalem, and were welcomed with the sounds of the children's choir's rendition of Shalom Aleichem; the children all waved Israeli and American flags.
