Hi Mike,
Your desire to get close to the Lord
reveals a heart for Him and I am sure nothing would please
Him more than to honor and grant you your heart’s
desire! For it is written in 1
John 5:14 “And we are confident that he hears us
whenever we ask for anything that pleases him” (NLT)

As our Lord creates us
individually and differently, I thought it best that He be
the one to tell you personally on how to draw close to Him
for He has promised in Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the
way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye”
So I prayed and asked
the Lord for directions and a verse for you.
And when I opened my bible, it immediately landed on John
14 and my eyes were directed to verses 13-14 and 26,
namely –
13 And
whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that
the Father may be glorified in the Son.14 If
ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
26 But
the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father
will send in my name, he shall teach you all things…
Looks like He’s
waiting for you to ask Him. So, Mike
start asking now (if you are not already doing so) and ask
big! - not just for closeness but also for His
wisdom, revelations, prosperity of the soul, health, mind
and finances, etc for we serve an awesome God! :D
