Hello brother - This is my understanding of the events mentioned in your posting.  I hope this sheds some light on how you see the things that are and yet to come.

You asked......Did the disciples not ask to know where these people are taken to? Are not those taken referred to as carcasses, where eagles are gathered together, which pick at carcasses like buzzards do?  Does that sound like a blessed hope?

What carcass?

Corpse dead body - no life. 

When life is taken away only the lifeless, powerless flesh remains.

Vultures, birds of prey, feed on what is..... "left" when life is gone. 

Wherever the dead body is , the churches - men and women,  the vultures will come to feed on what flesh remains, when the Spirit has left......what may appear to be alive but is dead.

Revelation 3:1-6   “To the angel a of the church in Sardis write:   These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits b of God and the seven stars. 

I know your deeds; you (church) have a reputation of being alive, but you are..... DEAD. 

Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, (come out from what is dead) I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. Yet you (church) have a "few people" in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. THEY.... will walk with me, dressed in white, for THEY are "worthy." (they walked with Me on earth - as My disciples) The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, (blotting out a possibility) but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels. 

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (those not dead yet...but sleeping)

Where - this will happen...

Wherever the Body (churches) is dead because it has no life, it is powerless - the Spirit is gone - the vultures (false teachers, pastors and prophets) who feed off the dead bodies, which remain, to sustain their physical life, will come indicating that the end is near. (now increasing) 

Those who are filled and  listening to the Spirit  will come out from the dead bodies (churches) when called by the Spirit and the bride to get and remain ready to be taken out when the time comes.

Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.”

Isaiah 52:11,12 

Depart! Depart! Go out from there, Touch no unclean thing; Go out from the midst of her, Be clean, You who bear the vessels of the Lord. For you shall not go out with haste, Nor go by flight; For the Lord will go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear guard.

Luke 21:29-36

“Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. (days of Noah and Lot) For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.

 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted.... "worthy to escape" all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Luke 17:18-37 

The world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building— until the morning Lot left Sodom.

Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.  Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.  On that day a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home.  

Remember what happened to Lot’s wife!  (leave what is already determined by God to be dead) If you cling to your life (here on earth) you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it.  

That night two people will be asleep in one bed; one will be taken, the other left.  Two women will be grinding flour together at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.”

“WHERE will.. THIS... happen, Lord?” the disciples asked. (wherever the Body is - world wide) 

Jesus replied, “Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near.”

How- 

Revelation 22:12-16

“See! I am coming soon! My reward is with me to repay everyone according to his behavior. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

“How...... blessed are THOSE "who wash their (already given) robes"  so that they may have "the right" to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city! Outside are dogs, sorcerers, immoral people, murderers, idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

“I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give this testimony to you for the churches. I am the root and descendent of David, the bright morning star.”

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let everyone who hears this say, “Come!” Let everyone who is thirsty come! Let anyone who wants the water of life take it as a gift!

Then they asked Him, "Where, Lord, will this take place?" He told them, "Wherever there's a corpse, there the vultures will gather." Luke 17:37

Ellicott's commentary 

Wherever life is gone, wherever a church or nation is decaying and putrescent, there to the end of time will God's ministers of vengeance, the vultures that do their work of destruction, and so leave room for new forms of life by sweeping off that which was "ready to vanish away" (comp. Hebrews 8:13 for the phrase and thought), assuredly be found. What the disciples should witness in the fall of Jerusalem would repeat itself scores of times in the world's history, and be fulfilled on the largest scale at the end of all things. The words of Isaiah (Isaiah 46:11) and Ezekiel (Ezekiel 39:4), in which the "ravenous bird" is a symbol of the nations who do the work of destruction to which God sends them, illustrate the meaning of the generalized law which is here asserted. 

(God used Israel's allies and enemies for judgment, punishment and destruction when they became dead to Him.)
