"RE: the choice between two"

My Brother sent me questions he had been asked and was thinking about:
In the beginning there was the tree of life; tree of knowledge of good and evil; and all the other trees.
God commanded Adam not to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil but all the others
Was the tree of life ok at that point to eat?
A&E both ate of the forbidden tree resulting in God banishing them from the garden out of fear they would eat of the tree of life.
Did the tree of life become forbidden by virtue of their disobedience and if so why?
Does this highlight the relationship between the two trees-not fully understood?
I looked at the passages to seeing we can glean something or if we simply have to surmise - and in essence say,
“Well the Scriptures are not clear on that point so we will have to ‘suppose’ an answer.

Genesis 2:15 “And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:
for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

Genesis 3:22 “And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil:
and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims,
and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”

We know the tree of life was in the garden because the Lord set verifiable cherubs there
(cherubim - the ‘im’ ending in Hebrew designates plurality).
We also do not notice that he ate of the tree of life nor do we notice the Lord saying something to this effect,
“We need to keep him from the tree of life so that he doesn’t now eat again of it in this condition,
and so live eternally herein this garden in his fallen state.”
I will keep reading and get back with you if anything else comes up.”
Any ideas?

My response:
Amazing.
Could it have been similar to Deuteronomy 30:19?

Deuteronomy 30:19 I  call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Did they have a choice between life and death, but chose death?
Is it not similar when we are presented the gospel?
btw - do you think that, besides the trees for food, that Adam and Eve were given a choice,
to see which of the two trees, the tree of life or the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they would choose?
But they didn't choose life, but instead chose death?
Like today, when the gospel is rejected?
