Matthew 24, Luke 21 & Revelation 6 Comparison

The following is a comparison of the events described after the calamities of Matthew 24 and the opening of the 6th seal of the Title Deed to the Earth. The events correspond precisely and give a possible timeline of the events leading up to the rapture of the Church. This is only an event-based timeline and not meant to imply any date. I am using the Complete Jewish Bible version because I like that one.

Matthew Ch 24            Luke Ch 21                        Revelation

v. 29 But immediately following the trouble of those times, the sun will grow dark,

v 25 There will appear signs in the sun,

Ch6 v12 Then I watched as he broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, the sun turned black as sackcloth worn in mourning,

the moon will stop shining,

moon

and the full moon became blood-red.

the stars will fall from the sky,

and stars,

13 The stars fell from heaven to earth just as a fig tree drops its figs when shaken by a strong wind.

and the powers in heaven will be shaken.

v 26 as people faint with fear at the prospect of what is overtaking the world; for the powers in heaven will be shaken.

14 The sky receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved from its place.

30Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, all the tribes of the Land will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with tremendous power and glory.

v 27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with tremendous power and glory.

15,16 Then the earth’s kings, the rulers, the generals, the rich and the mighty — indeed, everyone, slave and free — hid himself in caves and among the rocks in the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of the One sitting on the throne and from the fury of the Lamb!

31 He will send out his angels with a great shofar; and they will gather together his chosen people from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

v 28 When these things start to happen, stand up and hold your heads high; because you are about to be liberated!

Ch 7 v1 After this, I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow on the land, on the sea or on any tree. v9 After this, I looked; and there before me was a huge crowd, too large for anyone to count, from every nation, tribe, people and language. They were standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palm branches in their hands;

Each point from the gospels matches perfectly with the effects of the 6th seal. There are also the same events described in Mark 13: 23-27, but I did not include it here.

From these texts it can be shown that the church is not seen in heaven (Rev ch7 v 9) until after the 6th seal is broken. The “huge crowd, too large to count” that has been gathered by his angels with the blast of a “great shofar” from the “four winds, from one end of heaven to the other”, is the Church.

“These are the people who have come out of the Great Persecution. The have washed their robes and made them white with the blood of the Lamb” Rev 7 v 14

While the Church is being taken to the Throne Room, the angel with the Seal of God is sealing the 144,00 of the house of Israel as God’s witness on earth during the Time of Jacobs Trouble, also known as the Great Day of the Lords Wrath.

Rev 7:14 is the first time any being from earth is seen in heaven. Before that it is either the 24 elders (it is my belief that these are heavenly beings and not human) or angelic beings. Some might refer to the 5th seal, in which John writes, “I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been put to death for proclaiming the Word of God, that is, for bearing witnessas being part of the church. While this is true, these are the only the souls of believers, not the resurrected bodies of the church after the rapture.

The Sign of the Son of Man

There has been a lot of discussion about what the sign of the Son of Man is. I believe that Yeshua has told us exactly what it is. In Rev 6:16, the people on earth cry out for the rocks and mountains to ”hide us from the face of the One sitting on the throne and from the fury of the Lamb!” They can actually see Yehova and Yeshua in the clouds, just as the gospels say they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with tremendous power and glory.

The next point as I see it, the Tribulation Period does not begin until the 6th seal. The Tribulation is consistently referred to in scripture as the Great Day of Gods Wrath, or the Time of Jacobs trouble. Most of the time I see it as “that Day” or the “Day of Gods Wrath”. In Rev 6:17 the people left on earth cry out to the rocks and mountains to fall on them “For the Great Day of their fury has come. “Has come” means that it has arrived, it has just started. So the Church hasn’t been in the Tribulation because it hadn’t started when it was taken out.

Finally, John 24:31 matches perfectly with 1 Thess 4:16-18 “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a rousing cry, with a call from one of the ruling angels, and with God’s shofar; those who died united with the Messiah will be the first to rise; then we who are left still alive will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and thus we will always be with the Lord. So encourage each other with these words.”
