   Yes, it’s all about the farmers wanting taxpayer money to pay
operating costs.
A quote from your article:

   The same response to cutting freebies happened in France recently.
The only real answer to the issue is for the government to allow the
farmers to let the free market determine the price for their crops.
The consumer will just pay more for their food and support the farmers
that way … IE, indirect but “fair” taxes.
   So, you see, you missed the most important issue of this situation.
