This article discusses the cons of returning Israeli settlers to the Gaza Strip after this current war. As we will recall, the Israeli farmers/settlers were forcibly removed from the Gaza Strip in 2005, to make way for the 'Palestinians'. We all know how well that has turned out !! Not only did this destructive decision place the hapless Ariel Sharon in an 8 year-long coma, but Israel has suffered the consequences ever since.
What is interesting is that the 2005 forcible eviction of Israelis from the Gaza Strip in 2005, happened 19 years ago. The same amount of time between 1948 and 1967 - the 6 day war. 19 years after the re-birth of Israel, the chance was given to the, then, Israeli leaders, to claim the Temple Mount. Instead - Moshe Dayan handed control of the Temple Mount over to Jordan. Again - we all know how well that has gone !! Are the Israeli leaders going to be pressured into making the same mistake again? Handing control of the Gaza Strip back to a foreign power(s)? When this is clearly their God-given chance to reclaim it as, quite rightfully, theirs.
I recently read an article by an Israeli general where he spoke of the Israeli war think tanks. I wish I could find it for you all to read. He said that they had wondered - for years - whether Israel would have to face another Yom Kippur situation OR another 6 day war scenario. During the 6 day war of 1967, Israel staged a pre-emptive attack, which resulted in a resounding victory. During the Yom Kippur war of 1973, Israel was taken by surprise. It could have been utterly disastrous. But, Israel scraped through.
October 7th, 2023 was a repeat of the Yom Kippur war of 1973. Not only did the surprise attack take place on Yom Kippur, but it was also the 50th year anniversary of that war. Are the Israeli politicians going to repeat the mistakes they made in the past?
I just find it odd that these things seem to be repeating themselves. Are we going to see a repeat of the 6 day war scenario this year?
