"Steve M -- Yes, we need discernment"

Steve M and Doves,

It is good to question 'Who is Mr. Trump?'
If we didn't, we would not be responsible.

In Matthew 24, Jesus tells us to be keen watchmen because
there will arise men who if possible, would deceive the very elect.

To me, that would mean that Bible-researching, Born Again  believers need to scrutinize anyone using FAITH as a platform.

"FAITH" is an extremely generic word, and can be highly manipulative.

Jesus gave us the key to discernment when He said, "By their fruits you shall know them" Matthew 7:16 and 7:20.
Fruits, to me, means results. In other words, let us not focus on their words, but rather let us focus on what is actually being done.
We are to "pin our soul to no man's back"  ( Sir Thomas More, A Man for All Seasons )

Things I ponder:

Why is President Trump selling off America's infrastructure to foreign countries?

President Trump called the second week of February 2018, "Initiative week" and he was going to tell us how his infrastructure plan would create new jobs. The week came and went without any explanation.

When President Trump gave his "State of the Union" address, our Wall Street numbers were off the charts, as he told how great our economy was.
Yet a few days later, after the hype, Wall Street plummeted by 1,000s of points, and many Americans lost money.

There are other questionable contradictions, and Jesus told us to watch in Mark 13:37
First Thessalonians 5:21 commands us to "Prove all things".

"Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as DOVES. Matthew 10:16.

It's OK to watch those in the public domain and hope for the best.
It's also OK to be wise.
