Is Hezbollah Getting Ready to
Attack Israel?

These are dangerous times for Israel. Of course, it seems like all times are dangerous ones for that tiny, miraculous nation lying at the crossroads of the world. But some seasons are more ominous than others.

As I write, Israel is facing threats on both its northern and southern borders. And a grave ballistic missile threat from above.

First, on Israel¹s southern flank lies the Gaza Strip ‹ controlled by the terrorist group Hamas ‹ where last week, some 15,000 Gazan teenagers and young men graduated from week-long training camps called the ³Pioneers of Liberation.²

These are essentially boot-camps for young terrorists at which boys ages 15 to 21 underwent military training for the armed wing of Hamas. Drills included weapons training and exercises simulating kidnapping IDF soldiers and infiltration into Israel through tunnels. Portraits of Israeli leaders were used in target practice for sniper training.

To the north, on Israel¹s border with Syria and Lebanon, tensions are rising with the well-armed, well-trained army of Hezbollah. Since its last war with Israel back in 2006, Hezbollah has been furiously accumulating thousands of long range rockets, improving its drone operation capability, and recruiting additional fighters. Those fighters are now battle hardened from fighting alongside Syrian President Bashar al-Assad¹s forces to turn back Syrian rebels.

In addition to being one of the most dangerous terror organizations in the world, Hezbollah is also one of the richest. One with hundreds of millions of dollars pouring in from a thriving narcotics trade in addition to more than $250 million in annual financial support from Iran.

On top of these worries, Iran successfully tested a long-range ballistic missile this week. This weapon becomes the second class of missile in Iran¹s arsenal that can reach Israel with the nuclear weapons that nation continues to develop.

While all of this is deeply dismaying, sadly, it is not surprising. Indeed the Bible clearly warns us about the emergence of these kinds of threats against Israel and against the Jewish People.
