"Missionary Account, 1934"

Readers -

While I was reading another missions account book, "Adventuring with Christ" by Brother Lester Sumrall, published in 1938, I came across the names of two missionaries to China that I had never heard of: John and Betty Stam. Brother Sumrall, and his traveling missionary companion Howard Carter, were riding mule back in China in a dangerous area. It was a few weeks earlier, as Brother Sumrall recounts, that the Stam couple had been executed because they were Christians. Their infant daughter miraculously survived.

The remarkable and sobering (brief) account of this China missionary family, and the miraculous work of God in saving the daughter can be found at this link:

When you read the account, it seems as if you are not reading a story from 1934, but one off the front pages of today's world newspapers.
