"Work hard to show the results of your salvation"

Hello, John and Doves,

"Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear."

What does the scripture mean, "...work hard...?"

From Sunday night "Encore" worship service,
February 17, 2013,
taught by pastor Scott Treadway of rcc.tv:

How to do the hard work it takes to establish, protect, and grow
unbreakable relationships:
1.    Declare I am here.
"Share each other's burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ."

2.    Declare I am here to engage, even at risk to my own comfort level.
15"Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!"

3.    Declare I am here to serve.
"You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love."

4.    Declare I am here to stay.
1"We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. 3For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”a 4For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

5"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Romans 15:1-6  NIV

"Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again."

~Blessings,
Mike
