Marilyn quoted 2 Sam 7:23 and 1 Chron 17:21 and linked them to America.  I have to disagree.  2 Sam 7:22-23 says this...

כב  עַל-כֵּן גָּדַלְתָּ, יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים:  כִּי-אֵין כָּמוֹךָ, וְאֵין אֱלֹהִים זוּלָתֶךָ, בְּכֹל אֲשֶׁר-שָׁמַעְנוּ, בְּאָזְנֵינוּ.	22 Therefore Thou art great, O LORD God; for there is none like Thee, neither is there any God beside Thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
כג  וּמִי כְעַמְּךָ כְּיִשְׂרָאֵל, גּוֹי אֶחָד בָּאָרֶץ--אֲשֶׁר הָלְכוּ-אֱלֹהִים לִפְדּוֹת-לוֹ לְעָם וְלָשׂוּם לוֹ שֵׁם, וְלַעֲשׂוֹת לָכֶם הַגְּדוּלָּה וְנֹרָאוֹת לְאַרְצֶךָ, מִפְּנֵי עַמְּךָ אֲשֶׁר פָּדִיתָ לְּךָ מִמִּצְרַיִם, גּוֹיִם וֵאלֹהָיו.	23 And who is like Thy people, like Israel, a nation one in the earth, whom God went to redeem unto Himself for a people, and to make Him a name, and to do for Thy land great things and tremendous, even for you, [in driving out] from before Thy people, whom Thou didst redeem to Thee out of Egypt, the nations and their gods

2 Sam 7:23 is a rhetorical question when it says "Who is like ... Israel?"  The obvious answer is no one.  And that was the answer to the parallel issue in the previous verse.  1 Chron 17:20-21 is nearly identical to 2 Sam 7:22-23.

 

No nation is like Israel.  Israel is the only nation that stood at Mt Sinai and made a covenant with G-d.  It is the only nation that actually has a covenant with G-d.  Other nations might have a calling, but no other nation has a covenant.
