"Steps on a ladder"

Looking at the steps on a ladder, or hammering the next step in place...

The progressive signs keep mounting and like you I wonder what event will make the next headline.

One step on the ladder was the recent resignation of the Pope leaving us wondering at the significance of Malachy's prophecy.

The next step was lightning striking the Vatican on the same day that the Pope resigned.

Then another step was an asteroid making a close pass near the earth.  Then another step was a meteor striking Russia.

Recent events were beyond anyone's control.  Anyone's, but God's that is.  But, who is to say that some steps on the ladder might be in our control?  Giving help to someone who needs our help.  Sharing the gospel.  Okay, maybe these things aren't signs, but they are the steps we should be taking.  Right?

Over the years I've seen so many charts, timelines and theories about when the rapture will happen that I've lost count.  Some were wild speculations that left me wondering if the writers had bothered to read their Bibles.  Others were well thought out and quite convincing.  Some say this year.  Some say the middle of this decade.  Some say pre-trib.  Some say mid-trib.  Some say this Jewish holiday.  Some say another.  Personally, now I see parallels for the rapture in practically all of the Jewish festivals.

With the increasing frequency of significant signs happening I know we don't have long to do the things we should.  Arguing about timelines for the rapture isn't going to help anyone up the ladder, or bring about the rapture sooner.  Lending a helping hand and witnessing just might though.

Romans 11:25..."I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in."

John 10:16... "I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd."

I guess what I'm trying to say is that just watching the signs won't speed up the rapture.  Bringing someone to Jesus Christ just might.  We can do that through our actions and our testimony.  That my brothers and sisters is truly another rung on the ladder.  Time is short.  Maybe we can make it shorter.
