"take peace from the earth?"

(For years, I thought that the only understanding I could have of the rider on the red horse, was that he brought war.)

Revelation 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

(I still believe that war is a major component to taking peace from the earth.
However, there is more to peace than simply being the absence of war.
After all, is not the Prince of Peace the God of peace?)

Isaiah 9:6h The Prince of Peace.

Romans 15:33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.

(Are there not other blessings of peace that are not simply the absence of war?)

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Romans 8:6b  but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

(The same Prince of Peace gives peace, and also he can take peace away:)

Numbers 6:26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Jeremiah 16:5b  for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies.

(When he takes away peace, what is it like?)

II Chronicles 15:5 And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

(Yes, that could include war, but it also could involve there being no longer peace between one person and another, to where they would hate, hurt, and kill one another:)

Zechariah 8:10b  neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.

(Cannot the same be involved with the rider on the red horse? So, in addition to war between nations, that it could also mean that there will not be peace between one person and another?)

Revelation 6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

(So, that in addition to war on earth, could this also mean that there will be a great increase in violent crimes, including murder?)
