I would have to differ with you that taking the vaccine is protection from COVID. These vaccines are non-sterilizing, or "leaky," vaccines, and therefore, neither prevent one from getting the virus, nor do they prevent one from transmitting the virus to others. We have seen plenty of examples of fully vaccinated people getting the virus, and alas, some of them die, just like some of the unvaccinated. It is disingenuous to make an assertion that a given person would be alive, if only they'd taken the vaccine. I know of someone whose fully vaccinated relative caught the virus about 4 months after getting the vaccine, and died. We also know that the vaccines are losing their efficacy at an alarming rate. Hence, the boosters, which seem to also be losing their efficacy at an alarming rate.
Lastly, we are now seeing that it is the fully vaccinated who are spreading the Omicron variant. Not the unvaccinated. In order to travel internationally, people must be fully vaccinated. Yet, people who have traveled internationally are arriving at their final destinations infected with the Omicron variant, and passing it on to others. Similarly, a cruise ship, which required all on board to be fully vaccinated, has had an outbreak of the virus. One need only to look at what's going on inountries where vaccine compliance is extremely high to see that the vaccinated are not only getting the virus, but they are spreading it and in some cases, dying.
So, is it sad that this person died? Absolutely! My heart goes out to their family and friends in this time of loss for them. This isn't the time to try to use their death to make an unscientific political statement. We should mourn their loss, praise God for the life they lived, and rejoice for their home-going.
