Revelation 21:18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.

(The building of the wall is of jasper, which the light of the city is also like, which is like the appearance of Jesus upon the throne.

However, the city itself is pure gold, like unto clear glass.

This can either mean that this pure gold is transparent, or likeness to clear glass may show that there are zero imperfections in it.

Either way, there is currently no such gold in existence on the earth, this is supernatural gold.

Jesus is the Creator, and this gold is no exception, it is created by him.

1.6 quintillion tons of gold is a lot of gold, which is about 83 septillion dollars at current value, of current gold.

The purity of the supernatural gold would be so many times more valuable than current gold.

Clearly the city is made of unfathomable wealth!

This city is pure, its wealth is untainted with sin, and it will last forever, how totally different this is from Mystery, Babylon.)

Revelation 21:19 And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;

  20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.

  21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

(The foundations of the wall are garnished with all manner of precious stones, and the street of the city is pure gold.

Current foundations are made of the least expensive, and the absolutely least appealing, material, of concrete and rebar.

Also, streets are made of the least expensive and least appealing material, asphalt upon concrete and rebar.

Both of these are the least pure of all the parts of current cities.

With that in mind, and by way of comparison, is the thought of the new Jerusalem.

Therefore, the least expensive and least appealing materials of the new Jerusalem are precious stones and pure gold.

So, what about everything else about the new Jerusalem?   Clearly this is beyond our current ability to even imagine:)

I Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

(There are twelve types of precious stones mentioned, answering, again, to Israel, as well as the church, being in the city.

There had been twelve precious stones in the breastplate upon the high priest, engraved with the names of twelve tribes.

Many of these stones in the foundation are the same types of stones that were in the breastplate.)

Exodus 28:15a And thou shalt make the breastplate of judgment with cunning work; 

  17a And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones:

  21 And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.

(Also, each of the twelve gates in the wall, around the city, is apparently a single giant pearl.

Did Jesus make these pearls the same way as all other pearls, by using oysters?

If so, he has some gigantic oysters in heaven, slowly producing these 12 pearls, perhaps over the preceding 7,000 years?

Is the giant pearl rolled out of the way, to open the gate?)

(The gold of the street is pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

Again, this could mean see-through, or it could be referring to there being absolutely no imperfections in this gold.

It says the street, which could be the general term applied to all the streets of this gigantic city.

Or it could imply that there is one, perhaps central, street, and all else are lanes and walkways, throughout the city.)
