Let me start by saying that I believe that once in Christ we receive the right to become children of God and the promise of Eternal Salvation. His seal is upon us as ones belonging to Him and waiting for the promise to be fulfilled.
While waiting we are warned and taught much about overcoming, not falling asleep, not falling away, remaining faithful, staying in the faith and enduring until the end. And, this is why it concerns and motivates me to remain faithful and to exhort/warn others. The justice of God is both Kind and Severe.
Our hope of Salvation in God is rock solid but we did not loose our ability to choose to sin and depart from the faith once we became - one who will inherit Salvation as result of God's grace -through faith. (faith now given to us) We are given Salvation by grace but we must now walk it out by faith with fear and trembling. Why? because there is a real danger.
Not to take the warnings seriously by Jesus is dangerous and reckless because it denies proper motivation - the fear of departing from the faith you have been given by not obeying the whole council of God. You must ignore or erase them from scripture to believe that we cannot become Apostate or depart from the faith we once held.
Matthew 24:10-13
(When persecution comes because of.. Jesus)
"Then many people will fall away, (depart from the faith or Jesus) will betray one another, and will hate one another. Many false prophets will appear and deceive many people, and because lawlessness will increase, the love of many people will grow cold. But the person who endures to the end will be saved." - Jesus speaking privately to His disciples
Matthew 10:22
"You will be hated by all because of "My name", but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved." - Jesus
Mark 13:13
"And you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved." - Jesus
Geneva Study Bible-
{3} "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." - Jesus
(3) The gospel will spread abroad, angering the world and the devil ever so much: and those who continually believe will be saved.
Hebrews 3:12-14
Take heed, "brothers," lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing (falling away from) from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called Today; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
For we are made partakers of Christ..... IF we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end.
(All who are NOT overcomers, "victorious" - it seems their names can be blotted out from the Book of Life)
Revelation 3:5
"All who (overcome) are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase "their names" (the victorious ones) from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that "they" are mine." - Jesus to believers in the church
