"much better than imprisoned?"

When Christians pass, prior to the blessed hope, do not their souls go to be with the Jesus?

II Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

What about the martyrs of Jesus?

Revelation 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

They're not imprisoned under the altar, for being willing to die for the word of God?
Isn't that only how John sees them, in that one particular scene, as under the altar?
Yet, didn't Paul tell the Corinthians, that those absent from the body (which is also true for the martyrs), are present with the Lord?
So, wouldn't the martyrs be present with the Lord, as well as the rest of us?
But, couldn't the fact that John sees them in a separate, hidden place, possibly indicate that they are experiencing a separate, special time, being present with the Lord?
Are their souls enjoying that special experience with Jesus, until they are resurrected, and presented for all to see, including those martyred in the tribulation?

Revelation 6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

So, their souls being under the altar doesn't indicate something negative, like being imprisoned?
But, rather, are their souls experiencing a very wonderful time, being present with the Lord, that the rest of us don't see, or hear, or even know?

I Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

After all, wouldn't that scripture apply to the martyrs, also, as well as to us?
