"what were you thinking?"

Genesis 40:14 But think on me when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:

(What do we think about?
What do we think about when we are working?
What do we think about before we fall asleep?
What about the first thing we think of when we awake?
What do we think about when we are alone?
Since man was created in the image and likeness of God, we have the ability to think.
When we think, we can consider, decide, reason, calculate, plan, remember, or imagine:)

Numbers 36:6b Let them marry to whom they think best;

(Jesus questioned his disciple what they thought about what he was asking them:)

Matthew 18:12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

(1/5 of the use of think/thinketh in the scriptures is by Paul to the Corinthians, apparently thinking was paramount to the Greeks.
However, care is needed, about our thinking, once we are saved:)

I Corinthians 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

II Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

(When we think, we have thoughts. Also, the past tense of think is thought.)

Psalms 48:9 We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

Psalms 94:19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

Proverbs 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

(Again, care is needed for our thoughts, after we are saved:)

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
  9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

(1/5 of the use of thought/thoughts in the scriptures is in the gospels.)

(What about how Jesus thinks about us? Or what about the thoughts that Jesus has about us?)

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Psalms 139:17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

(Meditation: 1828 Webster: close or continued thought; the turning or revolving of a subject in the mind; serious contemplation)

Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Psalms 119:97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.

Psalms 119:148 Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.

I Timothy 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
  15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

(When we meditate, we follow the thought flow of the scriptures, or we concentrate on a specific thought in the scriptures.
When meditating on the scriptures, we are able to concentrate our thoughts, to a small degree, along with Jesus’ own thoughts.
¾ of the use of meditate/meditation in the scriptures is by David in the Psalms.)

(When we have a recurring thought, especially when we bring to our mind a thought that we had before, we remember.
We can remember thoughts or experiences that we already have had in our lives.
Generally, when we remember, it is when we make a conscious effort to bring the thought again.)

I Chronicles 16:12 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;

Psalms 30:4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Psalms 119:52 I remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself.
  55 I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.

Luke 24:8 And they remembered his words,

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

(As with thinking and with thoughts, we must take care with remembering when we are saved:)

Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

I Corinthians 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
  25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

(How about Jesus’ remembrance?)

Hebrews 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

(1/5 of the use of remember in the scriptures is in the Psalms, also, another 1/5 is used collectively by Isaiah, Jeremiah & Ezekiel)

(What about together:)

Psalms 63:6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

(If we spend time reading and studying the word of God, it will be possible to use our ability to think, in order to meditate.
That way our thoughts will be much more focused and orderly.
Also, it provides for us a vast array of things that we can think about.
It will also help us with how we think, as evidenced by David’s thought process reflected in the Psalms.
Yes, the Holy Ghost inspired the very words, but he also used David, and the way he thought, to compose those Psalms.
Then with a more focused thought process, we can follow this scripture:)

II Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

(When our thoughts are still not disciplined by meditation of the word of God, it is very difficult to follow that line.
But when we learn to discipline our thinking, we are then making it far easier to remember.
We either remember things that are in the scriptures, or by the scriptures, we remember things Jesus does in our lives.
Then with this thinking, thought process, meditation, and remembrance, we can far better worship and serve Jesus.)

Psalms 143:5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.

(Yet Jesus still can out do us in a marvelous way:)

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
