(Jerusalem will finally realize that they had their own Messiah killed 2,000 years earlier, and they will mourn, when they see him:)
Zechariah 12: 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
(However, before Jesus comes to deliver Jerusalem, the city will be taken, and horrible things will be done to the survivors:)
Zechariah 14:1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
(Then Jesus will arrive to deliver Jerusalem, and stand upon the mount of Olives, which will then cleave in two:)
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
(And this is how Jesus will destroy all those who came against Jerusalem:)
12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.14 And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.15 And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.
(When the survivors in Jerusalem see Jesus, they will wonder about the holes in his hands:)
Zechariah 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
(Only one third will be that surviving remnant, and they will have come through a fiery trial:)
8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
(Then, at last, Israel will realize that Jesus is their Messiah, whom they had killed, is the God of Israel, come in the flesh:)
Isaiah 25:9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.
(This will be Israel's ultimates day of atonement:)
Romans 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
(If Mike P is correct about the possible future dual fulfillment of the feast of trumpets, with the first on that feast day, if perhaps Jesus comes for the blessed hope on the feast of trumpets, then seven years later, on that same feast day, the resurrection of the old testament saints and the second coming of Jesus to the earth,if so, then if Jesus fights his way up from Bozrah, through Israel, to Jerusalem, destroying, along the way, the armies that came against Israel, that if Jesus does this over a 9 day period, then he will arrive at Jerusalem in time for the day of atonement, the 10th day of the 7th month.I certainly cannot be dogmatic, but it seems that the remnant of Israel being delivered, and believing on their Messiah, and all Israel being saved,on the actual day of atonement, fits with the crucifixion occurring on the actual feast of Passover, and the Holy Ghost coming on Pentecost. That way, there was some great prophetic fulfillment on each of the feast days.If so, then perhaps, Jesus siting upon the throne of David, and establishing the millennial kingdom of Israel,at the beginning of the actual feast of tabernacles, 5 days later, also seems to make sense.)
