Another
powerful earthquake has struck the world during the current
surge in seismic activity. This time a
M7.1 quake has been reported off coast in the islands
of Vanuatu in the
South Pacific. The magnitude will go up and down until
reporting agencies "settle" on a final figure. The region
often sees large and
DEEP quakes.

Tsunami Threat was initially issued as a precaution
but has seen passed.
NO Tsunami is now expected.
We
typically do NOT see a tsunami occur until a minimum magnitude
of
M7.4 or higher, and then the possibility depends on
several factors including location relative to land and depth.
Had
a quake of this magnitude been reported off the coast of the
U.S. or South America, it would have been major
international news, but because of the remote nature of the
location, the news will barely cover it if at all.
