"How Can “God in Christ” Confirm the Covenant of Daniel 9:27a"

How Can “God in Christ” Confirm the Covenant of Daniel 9:27a

Donna:

Daniel 9:26 and 9:27 state:

26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the

sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the

overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

The 70 weeks (of years) of Daniel 9 represent sabbatical cycles.  God has determined that period of time for the purpose of completing His redemptive plans for His people.  His people include (1) Christ’s own per 1 Cor. 15:23, 51-52, and (2) the Jewish nation which, at a future date, will embrace the testimony and faith of Yeshua/Jesus per Revelation 12:17, 14:12 and 20:4-5.

Jesus was crucified and resurrected “after the 69th week”.  Not in the 70th week.  There is gap of time between the 69th and 70th week.  Call it “covenant time” where there are “timeouts” in God’s counting off his redemptive 70 weeks of years plan.  This gapping has been a common practice.   See the PDF article attached for detailed explanation.   Man frequently uses “timeouts” in competitive sports.  We simply copied God’s gaming procedures.

“God in Christ” suspended the Abrahamic promises to the nation of Israel when Messiah was rejected on Nisan 10, A.D. 30.  That ended the 69th week and suspended the covenant relationship with the nation of Israel for the rejection of their Messiah ben Joseph, the suffering servant king.  Time out!  Covenant suspended.  The end of the national Jewish dispensation of the Law.   Subsequently, with Messiah’s gift of His own life for the forgiveness of sin and His resurrection, the Church Age dispensation began.  Now, salvation is individual, not national.  Now salvation is based on faith alone apart from any works. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10)

What happens in a timeout?  The game count is suspended.  Time is suspended.  Think about this suspension of time.  There was a commencing event at the first Pentecost, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the birth of the Spirit empowered Church.  From the commencement of that event, anyone can individually come to saving faith and freely receive God’s promises of new life in Christ.   The Jewish nation’s national salvation had been suspended, but individual Jews may be saved in Christ by faith alone.  God has a future plan for the Jewish nation which will be revealed during the 70th week and Second Advent.  This is the purpose of the 70th sabbatical week.

Our salvation and physical redemption is a two-stage event.  What are we waiting for?  The first stage was the deposit of the Spirit which is in Christ.  However, the body still suffers sin.  We await the physical transformation of our bodies of sin into what Paul describes as the glorified body at Christ’s appearance.  That second stage event will complete our promised redemption: spiritual life in Christ and glorified body like Christ’s.  During this Pentecostal Age or time out between the 69th and 70th week, anyone can get saved and receive the Holy Spirit.   This age will end at the resurrection/rapture event when we who are “in Christ” will be transformed.   When this event happens, the time out will be terminated.  God in Christ will focus His attention on the Jewish nation.  I cannot tell you if this will happen instantaneously following the resurrection/rapture or if there will be a gap of time.  I suspect there may be a small gap of time.  If the Lord follows His pattern, the resurrection/rapture event will take place on a future Pentecost, at a day and hour known to Him alone.  I would expect the 70th week of Daniel to happen on the Festival of Trumpets following the Church’s departure.  We will be with the Lord and His plans are perfect.  What happens after that is of little concern to me personally.

How does the Lord confirm the covenant promises to the nation of Israel?  With a thought or simply “say it in a word”. (Luke 7:7; Matthew 8:7-8)

How did our Lord confirm the Abrahamic promises?   He said it in words, afterall one of His names is WORD OF GOD.  Here are some KJB citations showing us “the Confirmed Covenant”:

Genesis 22:16-17

16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;   (This verse 22:16 speaks to Daniel 9:27 which is the 22,016th bible verse)  Is God perfect or what?

God swore an oath to Abraham. (Genesis 26:3)

Hebrews 6:16

For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

The first CONFIRMATION of the Abrahamic promises was confirmed by God’s oath.  It is a “super covenant” because it was made upon God’s oath.

1 Chronicles 16:16-17

16 Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;

17 And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

The second time this covenant was CONFIRMED it was by His oath to Isaac.

The third time this covenant was CONFIRMED to Jacob……to Israel as an everlasting COVENANT.

Psalm 105:9-10

Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;

10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:

The second and third CONFIRMATIONS are repeated in the Psalms for EMPHASIS.

If there ever were a biblical covenant which could be called the “CONFIRMED COVENANT” it is this Abrahamic covenant which by the way is a “super covenant” because of God’s oath upon it.

When we get to Daniel 9, which uses God’s covenant name seven (7) to the exclusion of all of Daniel’s other chapters, do you think that the COVENANT in verse 27 is a satanic covenant which is popularly termed the seven year peace treaty?

Let’s look at Divine patterns.  There is also a CONFIRMED COVENANT in verse 26.   It is also associated with Messiah Jesus.  Read this:

Psalm 110:4

The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

Paul discusses this sworn oath about Jesus.  See Hebrews 7.

What does God say he is going to do with those Jews when he returns them to the promised land in the last days?

Ezekiel 20:34-38

34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.  (That is Isaiah 11:10-11)

35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.  (The time of Jacob’s Trouble Jeremiah 30:7)

36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord God.  (Wilderness wandering in Sinai)

37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

God in Christ will bring the Jewish “remnant” nation into the “BOND OF THE COVENANT”.  That my friends is Daniel 9:27a!

Romans 9:27

27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:

Romans 11:25-28

25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. (The resurrection rapture happens following the “fullness of the Gentiles”)

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.

Keep in mind now that “all Israel” which shall be saved, is the remnant who appropriate the testimony and faith of their Lord Yeshua/Jesus.  This is true because:

Romans 9:6

Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

Doesn’t it make sense that God’s SUPER COVENANT would be the covenant promise upon His OATH which implements the six (6) purposes of Daniel 9:24, including among other things, EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Do you really think that a satanic covenant reading of Daniel 9:27  would trigger the events which ultimately cause EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Think about it.  What did Jesus tell the Pharisees when they accused him of having a demon when He healed on the sabbath?

Matthew 12:25-26

25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

The majority view finding that the Daniel 9:27 covenant is an anti-christ treaty contradicts Jesus’ words.   Jesus’ testimony is the Spirit of Prophecy. (Revelation 19:10)  Jesus testifies to the truthfulness of Daniel’s prophecy. (Matthew 24:15)   We know that national salvation comes “Remnant Israel” at the Second Advent. Jesus confirms this in Matthew 18:21-22 where He cites the numeric truth of seventy times seven as a basis in forgiveness.

So, do you think Jesus’ testimony (He wrote the Daniel 9 prophecy) as the Spirit of Prophecy, testifies that Satan’s alleged peace treaty brings in, among other wonderful things,  everlasting righteousness?  Not on your life!

Search and study the Scriptures for they are life.

Blessings in Christ, Greg
