"Perseid Meteor Shower  Peaks August 11/12."

Hello John and Doves,

It's that time of year again.

Most popular meteor shower of the year peaks August 11 -12, 2021 - the Perseid Meteor shower.

NASA Says Perseid Meteor Shower Will Be The Best Of 2021 - Amazingtravelandtour

"You can expect to see 50 to 100 meteors shoot across the sky per hour - traveling at 37 miles per second.  You may even see fireballs, which are large and bright explosions of light and color that appear for a longer time than the typical meteor streak.  What's more, the moon will only be 13 percent fully, so the sky will be dark, which makes watching the meteors easier, the American Meteor Society explains."

"The pieces of space debris that collide with Earth's atmosphere to create the Perseid meteor shower were left behind by a comet and named 109P/Swift-Tuttle, which was discovered in 1862 independently by both Lewis Swift and Horace Tuttle, NASA explains.  Swift-Tuttle is a large comet, with a nuclear that is 16 miles wide.  Interestingly, it takes 133 years for Swift-Tuttle to orbit the sun.  Meteor showers aren't named after comets, however.  Instead, they are named after their radiant - or where they appear to come from.  The Perseids are named after the constellation Perseus."

"Watching a meteor shower is simple - and you don't need a telescope.  You don't even need to know where the constellation Perseus is because the meteors will appear to come from all directions across the sky."

According other Hebrew calendar calculations,  some believe the chabad/Israel calendar is off by one month - If this is correct, then August 11/12 is 3 Av!

According to the Dead Sea Scroll - the third day of the fifth month, Av, is the Festival of New Wine.  Some believe this is also the true Pentecost.  The day Peter talked about in Acts 2, about the wine being new, and "On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee" (John 2:1) the day of the wedding in Cana where Jesus turned the water into wine.

In Acts 2, Peter tells the people what Joel said about 'the last days'.  "In the last days, God says......I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.  The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and glorious Day of the Lord."  Acts 2:17, 19-20.  Clearly this did not happen in Peter's day.  The 'last days' were yet future.

Many letters have been written to Doves about Pentecost possibly being the day of the Rapture - in some  year.  Thinking that the Church for the believers in Christ was 'created' on Pentecost (Acts 2) and then maybe the Church/believers in Christ would be removed (raptured) on some future Pentecost.  And then maybe on that future day, what Peter says was happening according to Joel, WILL happen.

IF the calendar is a month off - and we should be using the corrected calendar - the 9th of Av (Tishah B'Av) and 15th of Av (Tu'B'Av) are still in our future.

Good days for the watchmen!

Happy meteor watching!

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!

Maranatha!

The Perseid Meteor shower appears to radiate near the constellation Perseus. You can find the radiant by locating the five stars in Cassiopeia, in the northeast, shortly after nightfall in August. Image courtesy Stellarium.org Copyright Kirk D. Keyes 2021.

The meteors will streak across the sky away from Perseus.
