"Reply to EAR (23 Apr 2023) Curse and the Covenant"

EAR, in your reply to Gino, you stated: “‘It is this Covenant for the forgiveness of their sin’ that Jesus came to confirm in the middle of the 70th Week of Daniel’s prophecy”.

The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 15:8 “that Jesus was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers”.  Most students of the Bible refer to these promises as the Abrahamic covenant. The actual promises that God made with Abraham is found in Genesis 12:1-3. In Genesis 17, God confirms his “everlasting” covenant with Abraham. This “promise covenant” is further established with Isaac and then with Jacob, before Israel makes the long sojourn into Egypt.

The Apostle Paul has this to say about Abraham in Romans 4:1-3 and 16-17.

Romans 4:11-3

1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?

2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Romans 4:16-17

16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

So, Jesus 3 ˝ ministry that began when He was about 30 years old, was to confirm the promises/covenant that God made with Father Abraham. Yes, Jesus will make a new covenant with the Israel and Judah, but this covenant is still future. This new covenant is found in Hebrews 8: 8-13.

Hebrews 8:8-13

8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Come Lord Jesus!
