On our calendar, this day should fall on May 14th. May 14th, 1948 was 5th Iyyar. Therefore - Independence Day falls on Wednesday April 26th this year. 5th Iyyar on the Jewish calendar. This is 9 days before 2nd Passover (and the penumbral lunar eclipse) on May 5th. 9 days after 2nd Passover is May 14th.
