After you quoted (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) you followed that quote with the following quote of your own, "There will be no angels sent down to gather the elect."

 

Can you please then explain what Paul meant when he said in: 

 

2 Thessalonians 1:7

"and to give you, who are troubled, rest with us WHEN THE LORD JESUS IS REVEALED FROM HEAVEN WITH HIS MIGHTY ANGELS."        and.............

2 Thessalonians 2:1

"Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ AND OUR GATHERING TOGETHER TO HIM..."         and now...........

 

Matthew 24:31

"And He will SEND HIS ANGELS with a great sound of a trumpet, AND THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER HIS ELECT......"

 

After reading Paul's 1st Letter to the Thessalonians, you then need to read Paul's 2nd Letter to get a more detailed account of the rapture. There will be angels gathering His elect from the four winds during the rapture. Do not draw back when the angels come for you!

 

Hebrews 10:37-38

"For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith; BUT IF ANYONE DRAWS BACK, My soul has NO PLEASURE IN HIM."

 

 

You may now want to retract your quote, "There will be no angels sent down to gather the elect." ?

I had to defend Mike in the reference to the angels. I distinctly remember Mike saying the angels are not mentioned gathering for the rapture. Look at the context of 

 2 thess.1 :6-9

⁶ Seeing [it is] a righteous thing with God to recompense( tribulation) to them that trouble you;

⁷ And to you who are troubled( rest with us), when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

⁸ In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

⁹ Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Look at the above in parenthesis..the unrighteous will be recompensed tribulation( after the rapture) ..the raptured will rest WHILE  the Lord Jesus is REVEALED taking vengeance ... and will be with His ANGELS.

The Rapture happens in obscurity and leaves aftershock..the unrighteous will not see the Lord at that time..

now look at the second coming of the Lord

Rev.1:7

⁷ Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

if this is the same as the rapture, then why does the rapture occur in the blink of an eye? Why does this imply dread and awe for those who stand gazing ? Also, while Jesus is coming with His armies , the angels are gathering  the unrighteous ....then He will separate the sheep from the goats

 

Matt. 13: 37-41

³⁷ He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

³⁸ The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked [one];

³⁹ The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

⁴⁰ As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

⁴¹ The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

Matt. 13:30

³⁰ Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Paul never mentions angels concerning the rapture, just a "voice of the arch-angel"
