NUMBERBITE

daily number thingies that are easy to digest

Professor Ian Mallett

Dear Doves,

I believe the Lord has laid it on my heart to share some of the wonders of His mathematics in small soundbites, or rather numberbites, to enable more believers to understand God's use of numbers and to encourage them to seek His hidden treasures. I am not a 'professor' in the accepted sense of the word but my dictionary says a professor is one who openly declares belief in certain doctrines. It is my heart's desire to teach God's children some of these hidden wonders and I hope that you Doves will find blessings and inspiration through these daily offerings.

NUMBERBITE #0003 2006-10-07

Messiah

The most popular and famous of Handel's oratorios, Messiah is a word that has become very well known throughout the world. It might surprise you to discover then, as it did me, that there are only four occurrences of this word in the Authorised King James Version of the Holy Bible. These are found in just two books, the book of Daniel in the Old Testament and the book of John in the New. In the book of John the word has the alternative spelling Messias. The scripture references are Daniel 9:25 and 9:26 in the O.T. and John 1:41 and 4:25 in the N.T.

The very first reference is Daniel 9:25. By removing the colon the number 925 is revealed. This is the English gematria of JESUS CHRIST!

The Hebrew gematria of Messiah is 358 and the Greek gematria of Messias is 656.

Therefore the total gematria of the four occurrences is 358 + 358 + 656 + 656 = 2028.

The total 2028 can be expressed as 3 x 26 x 26. Here we have a double witness that the Messiah Jesus Christ is God because 26 is the Hebrew gematria of God's personal name YHWH or JEHOVAH. The 3 of course is the Trinity number.

At the time of writing this numberbite I received an email from John Tng. He has discovered that very often the gematria of a word plus the digit sum of the letter values is significant. After reading his email I calculated the English gematria of JESUS plus the digit sum of the letters. I was astonied (this is not a spelling mistake - check Daniel ch3!). JESUS is 515 and the digit sum of the letter values 1 + 5 + 1 + 3 + 1 is 11. Therefore the gematria and digit sum is 515 + 11 and that equals 526. This number has just two factors, 2 and 263. The English gematria of MESSIAH is 263 and this spelling occurs just 2 times!

Praise the LORD, the Wonderful Numberer, JESUS CHRIST!

All Scripture quoted as it is written in the Authorised King James Version of the Holy Bible

DANIEL chapter 9

25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

JOHN chapter 1

41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

JOHN chapter 4

25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
