NUMBERBITE

daily number thingies that are easy to digest

Professor Ian Mallett

Dear Doves,

I believe the Lord has laid it on my heart to share some of the wonders of His mathematics in small soundbites, or rather numberbites, to enable more believers to understand God's use of numbers and to encourage them to seek His hidden treasures. I am not a 'professor' in the accepted sense of the word but my dictionary says a professor is one who openly declares belief in certain doctrines. It is my heart's desire to teach God's children some of these hidden wonders and I hope that you Doves will find blessings and inspiration through these daily offerings.

In Hebrew, the word Israel is

The Hebrew letters, from right to left as Hebrew is written, are yod, shin, resh, aleph, lamed.

The letters have numeric values and are yod 10, shin 300, resh 200, aleph 1 and lamed 30.

Therefore the gematria, or numerical value, of Israel is 10 + 300 + 200 + 1 + 30 and that equals 541.

The symbol on Israel's flag is the Magen David (Shield of David), more commonly known in the secular world as the Star of David.

In figurate mathematics, the shape of the Star of David is known as a hexagram and a figurate hexagram can be formed by using counters, coins or any other circular objects with each counter touching at least two others, or spaced out as in the diagram below. The first figurate hexagram or Star of David is 13.

There is a formula for calculating the value of a figurate hexagram and this is 6 x n x n + 6 x n + 1 where n is the order number of that particular hexagram. The first few in the series are 13, 37, 73, 121, 181, 253, 337, 433, 541, 661 793, 937

The 9th hexagram or Star of David is 541, exactly the value of or Israel !!!

We can see from the diagram above that the first figurate hexagram 13 has 5 rows of counters. There is a formula for calculating the number of rows and this is equal to 4n + 1. Therefore, because the hexagram 541 is the 9th in the series, the number of rows for this star is given as 4 x 9 + 1 and that equals 37, the second Star of David in the series! The 9th hexagram 541 is only the second hexagram in the series that has a number of rows equal to the value of another hexagram or Star of David.

The Hebrew word or 'degel' (Strong's 1714) means flag or banner or standard. The gematria of 'degel' is dalet 4 + gimmel 3 + lamed 30 and the sum of these figures is 37, the second Star of David and number of rows of the 9th hexagram 541, Israel.

The color of the Israeli flag is blue on a white background. The value of 'blue' in English gematria is b 2 + l 30 + u 300 + e 5 making a total of 337. This number is the 7th Star of David.

So we can see that the Hebrew name for 'Israel' contains the numerical data for its national emblem and flag and even it's color hides its symbol!

But there's more!

In Genesis 32:28, where Israel is first mentioned, we read: 'And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.' The Hebrew name 'Jacob' is and the gematria of this name is 10 + 70 + 100 + 2 which is 182. The number 182 is equal to 2 x 7 x 13 and so we observe that the highest prime factor of Jacob's name is 13, the first figurate Star of David and the highest prime factor of many names of God including His personal name YHWH (2 x 13). If the letter values of Jacob are written as a string, i.e. 10701002, we have the number 10,701,002 and this is a multiple of the first star 13. Now if the commas are replaced by a plus sign (a process I call clustering and developed from the properties of the 2nd star 37), we have 10 + 701 + 002 and that equals 713. This figure is equal to the sum of the first 22 prime numbers from 1 to 73, the third Star of David and first star to have a row total equal to a star number, in this case 13. Note well that the sum of the prime factors of Jacob, 2 + 7 + 13, is 22! The difference between the value of Israel and the value of Jacob is 541 - 182 and that equals 359. This figure is the 73rd (3rd Star of David) prime number!

Finally, the cave of Mach-pe-lah. In Genesis 25:9 (259 = 7 x 37!) we read of the burial of Abraham. 'And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Mach-pe-lah, in the field of E-phron the son of Zo-har the Hittite, which is before Mam-re;'. In Genesis 49:30-31 we read further: 'In the cave that is in the field of Mach-pe-lah, which is before Mam-re, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of E-phron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace. There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah. How marvelous it is to see that the first letters of each of the five names mentioned, e are an anagram of  ISRAEL !!! 'Buryingplace' has an English gematria equal to 7 x 181, the 5th Star of David and there are five buried!

Praise the LORD, the Wonderful Numberer, JESUS CHRIST!
