Barry,
    Thank you for answering.
Your quote, of Howard Pitman saying, "I had labored in VAIN", really struck a chord.
"My labor" is in vain.
The best I can ever do is filthy rags.
Even at my best state I'm altogether vanity.
Yet the LORD is always perfect and holy.
I'll never be worthy.
Yet Jesus is worthy.
When I've surrendered my will, then any good that is done, is by him, through me.
I'm still not worthy, he is.
Thank the LORD that he has imputed his righteousness to me.
How unrighteous of me to dare think that I could merit righteousness or worthiness.
To think that I could try to be a better me, and earn righteousness on my own, is an unrighteous thought.
To think that I could try to be a better me, and "earn a ticket" on the "rapture express", is also an unrighteous thought,
I'm saved by Jesus.
I'm kept by Jesus.
I'll be taken by Jesus.
It's all him.
